How to Choose Your Size
Start with your usual US size, then compare it with the EU size and foot length measurement in the chart. Birkenstock footwear is designed with a contoured footbed, so the best fit should feel secure without your toes or heel pressing against the edge.
- Choose the EU size that matches your measured foot length most closely.
- Check the product page because available widths and fit may vary by style.
- For medium to wider feet, Regular may provide more room.
- For narrow to medium feet, Narrow may feel more secure.
Measuring Tips
- Measure both feet and use the larger measurement when choosing a size.
- Measure while standing, with your weight evenly distributed.
- Place your heel against a straight edge and measure from heel to longest toe.
- Use millimeters for the closest comparison with the size chart.
- Measure later in the day if your feet tend to swell slightly.
Fit Notes
A proper Birkenstock fit should allow your foot to sit naturally in the footbed. Your toes should have room to move, and your heel should rest comfortably without hanging over the back edge.
If the style has adjustable straps, open the straps before trying the shoes on, place your foot in the footbed, then fasten the straps so they feel secure but not tight.
Between-Sizes Advice
If your measurement falls between two sizes, consider how you prefer your fit. Choose the larger size if your toes feel close to the front edge, your heel feels close to the back edge, or you prefer a little extra room. Choose the smaller size only if the larger size feels loose and your foot does not sit securely in the footbed.
Check the Product Details
Size availability, width options, materials, and fit can vary by product. Always review the product detail page before ordering, especially when choosing sandals, clogs, slides, closed-toe shoes, kids’ styles, or seasonal designs.
